A Nigerian woman’s story of growth and progress has inspired and motivated social media users to keep going no matter the challenges in life
Her son, Jesse Iwuji, shared his mother’s story which he said is the reason why he has no option but to achieve success in life.
She used to live in a shack in the village, but she now resides in US, where she bought a house for herself. The mum worked as a Nurse, Entreprenuer, realtor before making it big.
The photos Jesse shared online showed her recreating a pose she did while still struggling in Nigeria. She spread her hands wide apart as if saying ‘look at how far I have come.’
Netizens congratulated her while others asked to the ‘secret’ on how to undergo such transformation.
In a lengthy post on LinkedIn, he detailed his mum’s life story of living in a small shack in the village where they relied on a source of water people use in bathing for drinking and cooking.

”My Moms story of how it started vs how it’s going inspires so many yet has found a way to anger some people in the US who have every excuse in the world on why they can’t achieve their goals when in reality most of them won’t even participate in their own rescue.
When you finally get your mindset to a place where you fully believe that where you start is not where you have to end, you immediately unlock your potential. At 11yrs old as my mom lived in this small shack in the villages of Nigeria she used to go fetch water from the local river for her family to use for cooking, drinking, and showering. By the way, people bathe in that same stream.
After school she would pick fruits off trees and take to the market to sell for some extra money to help support her sick mother in the hospital and her younger siblings. In the 1970s, while carrying a basket of fruit on her head one day walking to the market in the hot humid heat, she heard people walking by speaking English.
She noticed they wore nicer clothes, weren’t suffering like her, seemed less stressed, and overall seemed to be living a better life for some reason. She quickly prayed to God and asked him “Lord, all I ask is that when I have children you allow them to speak English because if they do, it will give them better opportunities in life and they won’t have to suffer like me.” Right or wrong, that was her belief.
She began to turn her DESIRE into AMBITION which means she coupled FOCUSED INTENTION with RELENTLESS ACTION. Because of that, God not only delivered on that prayer, but allowed her to learn English herself years later, then delivered her to the US with my Dad where she eventually produced 4 successful kids with him, she got a better education, became a Nurse, worked 80+ hr weeks, and started her entrepreneurial journey on the side of those 80+ hour work weeks with her party supply store and automobile & parts export business where she put in an additional 48+ hrs a week in. She owns multiple properties in the US and Nigeria now, and has bought the big house you see below.
By working all of the odd shifts and hours every week and also running her own store during her “off hours” for years, she was able to get to this point. Her circumstance on where she started did not have to be where she ends, but her drive from where she started was necessary to go through now.
Because of her journey, this is why I am not allowed to do anything in life but succeed. After seeing with my own eyes her humble beginnings, how dare I blame anyone or anything for me not making it? How dare I be lazy? How dare I fail?”
