According to him, inmates demanded he prostrate to greet them, while the cell had no furniture, just pit latrines and swarms of mosquitoes. He said he was spared beatings because the cell had cameras and one inmate who recognised him offered protection.

“‘I was locked up for two days in Yaba Panti because I posted that Actress Dayo Amusa has HIV.

That was the worst experience of my life after the demise of my mum. When I entered the cell, one of the rugged-looking guys there told me to prostrate and greet them.

There was no furniture, only four pit latrines and an uncovered window with mosquitoes entering. I begged them, I wanted to use the pit latrine, and they allowed it.

You can’t imagine how the Latrine looks and the terrible smell coming out of there. No door separates the latrine from the cell, so it’s just as if you are sleeping inside the latrine.

They told me I was lucky because the cell was the best there. If it was to be the second cell, they would have welcomed me with a serious beating because there was no camera or light there

The camera was still in the cell I was so they behaved themselves. I controlled my tears so they would not see me as a weakling.

Luckily for me, one of the cell leaders recognised me and said he followed me on TikTok. He protected me and didn’t allow me to suffer what they did to other newcomers. We were like 60 in one cell. Some inmates told me it was the same cell where Naira Marley was locked up.

Inmates slept on the cold tiles with mosquitoes biting them. The leaders slept on the haggard bunk beds. The guy who recognised me used his influence to give me a smelly, wretched bed to sleep on.

I want to thank Aunty Dayo Amusa for forgiving me. If not for the fact that she changed her mind and forgave me, I would have been there for a long time. I don’t pray to ever sleep in a cell again’”.
