Portable granted N2M bail as he pleads not guilty

Controversial street-hop singer Portable has been granted bail by the Isabo Magistrate Court in Abeokuta.

This comes after he was arraigned in court on charges related to his recent assault allegations in Ogun state.

Portable was charged with multiple offenses, including conspiracy, assault, and conduct likely to cause harm, after he and his gang clash with some government officials.

Prior to his court appearance, Portable had surrendered himself to the police. He had been declared wanted by the Ogun State Command, leading him to turn himself in at the Lagos State Criminal Investigations Department.

Following his surrender, Portable was transferred to the Ogun State Police Headquarters, where he was held until his court appearance. He was then taken to court, where he was granted bail.

His lawyer, Oluwatoyin Ayodele, pleaded for bail, noting to the court that Portable “is now remorseful and has learnt his lessons.”

The court, presided over by Magistrate O. L. Oke, granted Portable bail in the amount of N2 million, with an additional requirement of one surety in the same amount. The case has been postponed until March 5 for further trial.

Additionally, nine of Portable’s associates were also brought before the magistrate to face similar charges.
