Odunlade Adekola roasted for congratulating police PRO on promotion

Popular Nollywood actor and filmmaker Odunlade Adekola is facing criticism online after he publicly congratulated the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Police Force, Muyiwa Adejobi, on his recent promotion.

Earlier this week, the Police Service Commission announced the elevation of Adejobi from the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), citing his professionalism and commitment to public service.

In response, Adekola took to his Instagram page to celebrate the news, writing:
“Congratulations, sir. As the new DSP @adejobimuyiwa, God will bless you more, sir.”

While his message appeared to be a harmless show of support, it sparked a wave of negative reactions from some Nigerians who expressed displeasure over what they described as “celebrating a system that has failed the people.”

Critics accused the actor of using his platform to endorse an institution that many feel has lost public trust, especially amid ongoing concerns over police conduct, corruption, and the lack of justice in high-profile cases.

One user commented, “Una no see the guy hand in Omoyele Sowore’s detention right? You failed to speak up for injustice because it favours you. No worry, Nigeria will also happen to you.”
