Odumeje slams Nigerian pastors over silence on bad governance

Controversial cleric Odumeje has taken a swipe at Nigerian pastors, accusing many of them of refusing to speak out against bad governance while benefiting from the same system.

He spoke on this during a church service with his members.

Odumeje chides religious leaders

He criticized church leaders who, according to him, enjoy heavy security protection and preferential treatment from politicians, yet offer their congregations nothing more than stickers and olive oil while avoiding conversations about national hardship.

Odumeje argued that spiritual leaders who mount the pulpit have a responsibility to address the realities facing their members, insisting that silence in the face of worsening governance amounts to complicity.

He also questioned the credibility of some pastors who openly boast about their spiritual status despite lacking any demonstrable impact in their ministries.

“Bad government they can never talk about it. Fake people. I don move by people, I follow you based on your spiritual attitude. And everyone who stands on the altar in this government, you must talk. You guys are the ones causing it, giving pastors a lot, with police and Mopols to guard them. But they will give you olive oil and sticker and tell you to go home. You trek home, while he goes home with police. One miracle you have never done in your church, but you’d be bragging that you are Bishop.,..taa. go and sit down.”
