Okonkwo became the focus of public debate after he openly displayed his new tattoo in a viral clip, sparking reactions from religious figures. Among those who commented was Rev Esiri Kesiena, who cited Leviticus 19:28, emphasizing that the biblical instruction against marking the body was meant for the Israelites to distinguish them from pagan practices.
During a sermon, Okonkwo highlighted the concept of spiritual hierarchy, stressing that not everyone has the authority to correct leaders with broader spiritual responsibilities.

“I’m insulted because there is ranking in the spirit. My junior can’t talk when I am talking,” he stated, noting that certain matters are beyond the understanding of those not operating at the same level.
