Reality personality Seyi Awolowo of Big Brother Naija has talked candidly about his difficult upbringing.
In an interview with Chude Jideonwo, Seyi—the late Nigerian nationalist Obafemi Awolowo’s grandson—spoke.
He revealed that because of the difficulties of growing up in a polygamous home, his father had disowned him several times.
According to Seyi, his father had three wives and meticulously documented every one of his kids, turning their identities into nothing more than lists of names.
He remembered that his father used letters to distance himself from his kids, making them feel distant and unloved.
“My father once disowned me twice. Not only myself, but a few of us as well—my dad had multiple wives. He had three marriages. Everybody has files. As of right now, your name is just Seyi, full stop,” he said.

Today, it's Seyi Awolowo.
