Ilerioluwa Oladimeji Aloba, also known as MohBad, was a Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter from Lagos who was born on 8 June 1996 and died on 9 September 2023. His agreement with Naira Marley’s “Marlian Records” expired in 2022, and he later left the label. His most well-known songs were Ponmo, Feel Good, and KPK (Ko Por Ke) with Rexxie, all of which received three nominations for The Headies awards in 2022.

In the fourth quarter of 2020, he released his debut album, Light EP, as a follow-up to his popular single “Ponmo,” which featured Naira Marley and Lil Kesh. MohBad was nominated for The Beatz Awards 2021 five times.

NDLEA arrest

In February 2022, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) arrested Mohbad, Zinoleesky and four other people following their possession of illegal substances like MDMA and cannabis at their home in Lekki, Lagos.

Some Viral videos on social media showed NDLEA operatives breaking into the musicians’ home in the Lekki district of Lagos State in the early hours of Thursday morning. According to witnesses, the officials carried out the arrest without any search warrants and mistreated the Marlian singers. The NDLEA officers were seen hitting the musician with clubs and shooting into the air, forcing them into waiting trucks.

NDLEA confirmed the raid, “our men raided an area in Idado estate where Naira Marley’s boys stay.” Quantities of cannabis and molly were recovered from their apartment and car,” he told TheCable Lifestyle. Later, the NDLEA released Mohbad, Zinoleesky and 4 other and three others.

Domestic violence allegation against Naira Marley

After two years, he announced his departure from Marlian Records. On 5 October 2022, Mohbad accused singer Naira Marley of domestic violence and stated that his former boss ordered people to beat him up. When he confronted Marley about his decision to employ a different manager to handle his music and business affairs.

Reports from entertainment journalist Ovie on X (formerly Twitter) indicate that the 27-year-old Nigerian rapper, singer, and songwriter, passed away on Tuesday, September 12, 2023. However, from some unconfirmed reports from the street, some said he died after he was hit with  (juju) charm after his show at Ikorodu, and others are saying he died of ear infection.
