Manchester United’s players put up a strong performance to keep Aston Villa at bay and book a spot in the Emirates FA Cup fourth round.
It was a wild game at times, with either team getting an opportunity to win. Indeed, the visitors to Old Trafford had the ball in United’s net twice, only to have both of their attempted equalizers disallowed by the officials – Danny Ings and Ollie Watkins.
The winner was therefore Reds midfielder Scott McTominay’s eighth-minute header, and the tenacious Scotland international has since added to that distinction by topping United’s Official App’s Man of the Match poll.
McTominay got 55% of the vote after scoring the only goal in United’s 1-0 victory over Watford at this level last season.
Following another clean sheet, David De Gea, the winner of the Manchester based outfit two Player of the Month awards, was picked by 22% of fans as his closest rival.
