New and disturbing details have emerged in the tragic abduction and murder of two students of Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko (AAUA), whose disappearance on June 20 shocked the Ondo State community.

The victims, Friday Abah, 25, and Eloho Okah, 19, were confirmed dead by the Ondo State Police Command, which described the case as a brutal act of betrayal and premeditated violence.

Commissioner of Police Adebowale Lawal, in a briefing on Wednesday, revealed that the two students were kidnapped by a gang of armed robbery, who later killed them to cover their tracks. According to Lawal, police launched an investigation after receiving a petition from the victims’ families on June 24.

Forensic tracking led detectives to Lagos, where a 38-year-old man, Abdul Mohammed Mubarak, was arrested with an iPhone 14 Pro Max belonging to one of the students. Mubarak admitted he purchased the device from one Ojo Michael, who was then arrested in Aramoko-Ekiti.

During interrogation, Michael confessed to being part of the criminal operation and identified the alleged mastermind: Oladele Femi, the landlord of one of the deceased. According to police, Femi orchestrated the abduction and enlisted Michael and a third suspect, “Kola”, who remains at large.
The trio reportedly planned to abduct, rob, and extort the students. During captivity, ₦800,000 was withdrawn from Abah’s bank account. However, the situation took a fatal turn when Eloho Okah identified Michael, prompting the group to kill both victims in a bid to avoid being exposed.

Their bodies were dumped between Agbado and Ode-Ekiti. Okah’s remains have been recovered and taken for autopsy, while efforts are underway to locate Abah’s body, believed to have been dumped in a river.

Police also recovered the victims’ Lexus RX 350, which had been stolen during the attack.

Commissioner Lawal assured that all suspects involved will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, adding that the police are intensifying efforts to arrest the remaining fugitive, “Kola”.
