Italian prosecutors have requested an international arrest warrant for former Real Madrid and Manchester City star, Robinho after he was sentenced to nine years in prison for rape.
The arrest warrant was triggered after the Court of Cassation in Rome rejected an appeal against the conviction from Robinho’s friend and old teammate in January.
It is noteworthy that Robinho was convicted of rape in 2017 following a 2013 incident, with a nine-year jail sentence handed to him by the court.
Although the former player has continued to reject claims that he took part in a gang rape of a 22-year-old Albanian woman at the Sio Cafe nightclub in Milan, the Italian justice system wants him extradited to face the sentence.
