“If repented terrorists can be forgiven, why not Nnamdi Kanu?” – Okon Lagos blows hot

Nollywood actor, Ime Bishop Umoh, popularly known as Okon Lagos, has weighed in on the reported life imprisonment sentence issued against IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu.

Taking to his Instagram page, Okon questioned why “repented” terrorists are often pardoned, reintegrated into society, and even recruited into sensitive national institutions, while Kanu reportedly faces extreme punishment.

In his words, he said:

“If ‘repented’ terrorists of Northern Nigeria extract can be ‘justifiably’ pardoned and reintegrated into core institutions of national security like our armed forces, then the same gesture can be accorded Nnamdi Kanu.”

He added that Nigeria cannot claim to be fair and just if former terrorists walk free while Kanu faces the harshest penalties.

Okon stressed that forgiveness should not be selective and called on the President Tinubu to intervene:

“Mr. President Sir, please balance the scales I pray. Show more class than your immediate predecessor. I know you can. I hope you will.”

His statement has ignited strong reactions online. One user commented: “Okon is speaking facts. This country pick and choose who to forgive.” Another added: “Terrorists get amnesty but Kanu no get? Make it make sense.” Yet another urged caution: “Abeg leave politics. Court decision is court decision.”
