However, speaking on the With Chude podcast, the veteran broadcaster, who recently shared her battle with depression, revealed that she once lost her job at TVC due to internal politics.
She added that it took the direct intervention of the organisation’s proprietor, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for her to be reinstated.

Morayo recalled that her early years at TVC were not without turbulence.

Media personality Morayo recently shared details about her experience at TVC, revealing that internal politics led to her dismissal three years into the job.

According to her, former Lagos governor Bola Ahmed Tinubu was not even aware she worked at the station until news of her sack reached him. Well-meaning associates reportedly reminded him that she was the daughter of the late lawyer Alao Aka-Basorun.

Following this, Tinubu invited her to his office to clarify the situation. Morayo explained:

“He asked me what had happened. After several discussions, I was reinstated, but with a demotion.”

The broadcaster also addressed the criticism she faced for openly supporting Tinubu during the 2023 presidential elections. She clarified that her endorsement was a conscious, personal choice rather than something forced upon her.

“I received a letter from the women’s wing of the campaign informing me I had been selected to participate. At that point, I had two options: decline or openly support him. I chose to support him because I genuinely believed in his candidacy,” she said.

Morayo likened her decision to Oprah Winfrey’s historic support for Barack Obama, stressing that she acted in line with her convictions at the time.
