A young man, Jeffrey Zhang has shared his life story in a bid to encourage job seekers to always be bold and negotiate their desired salaries with prospective employers.
He took to LinkedIn to celebrate getting a job paying him $250k (N103.9 million) per month despite graduating bottom of his class.
According to Zhang, he finished from Cornell University, New York, USA, but with a CGPA of 2.9, making him the least performing graduand in his class.
The Ivy League school graduate, however didn’t allow that to make him feel inferior and confidently negotiated his pay with his now employer, Oracle where he eventually got hired as a graduate product manager.
Sharing his story, Zhang wrote; ”I graduated bottom of my class with a 2.9 GPA at Cornell University
Yet I got a $250k job offer from Oracle as a new grad Product Manager.
How did I do it?
I NEGOTIATED!!!
PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT THE 1ST OFFER GIVEN TO YOU!”
He then recommended places for young applicants to access quality job opportunities.
”Go on Glassdoor, Blind, and Reddit, Inc. to see what other people are getting, then ask for 50% more than the highest.
If you don’t believe you’re worth that much, then no one will,” he recommended.
