Cubana Chief Priest has issued a strong caution to President Bola Tinubu, warning that the current administration risks losing major political support in the South-East if Nnamdi Kanu remains behind bars ahead of the 2027 elections.

His remarks come in the wake of the recent court ruling that sentenced Mazi Nnamdi Kanu to life imprisonment.

In an extensive social media statement, he argued that Kanu’s prolonged detention has deeply shaped the region’s political mood, creating resentment so intense that it could severely limit the president’s chances of earning meaningful votes from the zone.

He also accused South-East ministers of failing to communicate the true level of public frustration to the presidency, questioning the political relevance of certain figures who, according to him, have been unable to secure genuine support for the government.

Cubana Chief Priest urged the president to re-evaluate his advisers and allies, insisting that many of those positioning themselves as loyalists lack the influence needed to win the region’s backing due to widespread anger over Kanu’s situation. He maintained that only Kanu’s release could rebuild trust and give the ruling party a fighting chance in 2027.

He further encouraged the president to strengthen relationships with South-East leaders who still enjoy grassroots credibility, citing Abia State Governor Alex Otti as an example. He also cautioned Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma that his political legacy could suffer if he fails to take a firm stand on the matter.

The socialite emphasised that Kanu remains a powerful symbol in the South-East and described his case as crucial to the administration’s future. He concluded by calling on the presidency to seek legal avenues to overturn the latest judgment, warning that ignoring the issue could cost the ruling party the entire region in the next general election.
