Afrobeat Superstar, Davido has revealed how his collaboration with Omah Lay came to life, disclosing that before they worked together, Omah Lay publicly admitted that he thought he didn’t like him.

Last year, Omah Lay revealed he assumed Davido “hated” him until the DMW boss played his songs during a famous livestream with American streamer Kai Cenat in Lagos.
The next day, Omah Lay tweeted that he was surprised Davido had given him a shoutout on a livestream, saying he had always thought Davido hated him.

Davido quickly DMed him, asking why he would think that, since they had never even met.

In a trending video, Davido explained how he reached out to Omah Lay after seeing his tweet, which later led to their collaboration on ‘With You’.

From that point, they exchanged numbers, shared music ideas, and recorded about four songs together, Omah Lay eventually chose “With You” as the track to release.
The song has since become one of the standout tracks on Davido’s fifth album, 5ive, and is nominated for Best African Music Performance at the 2026 Grammy Awards.
