Big Bolaji laid to rest in Ibadan amid tears

Nigerian gospel singer, Bolaji Olanrewaju, popularly known as Big Bolaji, has been laid to rest in Ibadan, Oyo State, weeks after his passing on April 19, 2025, following a brief illness. He was 50 years old.

The funeral rites began on Wednesday with a solemn service and lying-in-state held at the Hall of Grace, Jogor Centre, Ibadan.

Friends, family members, and fellow gospel ministers gathered in large numbers to honour the life and legacy of the beloved singer.

The service was attended by notable figures in the gospel music scene, including Tosin Bee, Mike Abdul, Bidemi Olaoba, Yetunde Are, and comedian Woli Agba.

Each of them paid heartfelt tributes, describing Big Bolaji as a passionate minister whose music deeply touched lives.

A tribute video highlighting key moments from his music journey and ministry was played during the event, drawing both applause and tears from attendees.

In emotional scenes shared on social media, pallbearers were seen carrying his white, flower-adorned casket into the venue while mourners stood in reverent silence.

After the service, the body of the late gospel artist was taken to All Souls Private Cemetery in Ido, Ibadan, for interment.
