Tshefatso Matibako, a 15-year old girl, was allegedly killed by her 46 years old boyfriend in South Africa .
Captain Sam Tselenyane, spokesperson for North West police, stated in a statement that they are searching for the fleeing suspect. He was last seen with the teenager girl before she died in Lomanyaneng outside Mahikeng.
Tshegofatso’s badly decomposed body was found in her rented house last week. She allegedly lived there with her boyfriend, who is a Lesotho national and is only known to neighbours by the name “Mosotho”.
The body was discovered after neighbours noticed the flies on the window in Lomanyaneng’s two-room house. They alerted police. Her hands were tied together with a rope, and a sponge was found in her mouth.
Captain Tselenyane stated that Lomanyaneng police near Mahikeng are investigating an investigation docket after an incident in which the body of a 15 year-old girl was found in a house she rented with her boyfriend.
“It is claimed that police were called to a crime scene on Thursday, 23/12/2021 at 10:00 p.m. after neighbors noticed flies on the windows in the rented house.
“Furthermore the deceased was discovered naked on a mattress in one of the rooms after he broke the padlock and gained entry to the house. Tshefatso Matibako, his brother, identified the deceased.
“Tshegofatso is believed to have a boyfriend who is the last person she saw with. He is also a Lesotho national and a person of interest in this case. His identity and whereabouts remain unknown at this time.
“Investigation continues into the matter and police request that anyone with information regarding this man’s whereabouts contact the Investigating officer, Detective Warrant Officer Molatlhegi Lechoenyo,” the officer added.
Matibako was laid in repose in Lomanyaneng on Tuesday.
The mother of the teen said that she tried to warn her daughter about the possible relationship with the suspect.
Joyce Matibako stated that she had asked her daughter many times if Tiisetso pitso had been abusing and she was denied.
“When I asked her, she said, “mama, why would you not tell me if someone hits on me?” Tshego stated that this person did not hit her.
Matibako stated that she tried to stop Tshegofatso seeing the man.
“She refused to listen to me, even when I reprimanded. She would go back to him in evening.”
