The family of Nollywood actress Tope Osoba has spoken out against reports circulating online about the circumstances surrounding her death.

The actress’s passing was confirmed on Wednesday, August 5, leaving fans, colleagues, and members of the Nigerian entertainment industry in shock.

Osoba had previously battled breast cancer and successfully overcame the illness. Following news of her death, several reports and social media posts claimed that the actress had died from complications linked to the cancer she had earlier battled.

However, her family has dismissed such claims, describing them as untrue and distressing.
In a statement shared on Osoba’s official Instagram page on Thursday, August 6, the family expressed sadness over the spread of what it described as unverified information about her death.

“We are deeply saddened by the spread of false and unverified reports concerning the passing of our beloved,” the statement read.

The family further described the reports making the rounds online as “false, speculative, and entirely unauthorized,” urging members of the public to refrain from spreading information that has not been officially confirmed.

The statement added that sharing such reports only compounds the family’s grief during the difficult period.
