According to him, the guard, who once helped him secure parking regularly, revealed a past life that was far removed from his current situation.
The man said the guard showed him old photographs from his time in Switzerland and recounted how he had once been a successful boxer sponsored abroad in the 1980s.

However, his life reportedly changed after he got involved in the drug trade, which ultimately led to his downfall, deportation, and separation from his family.

The storyteller said the encounter left a lasting impression on him, prompting him to reflect on the unpredictability of life and the importance of sustaining success over time.
Man reflects on Pa James story

He also drew parallels with veteran Nollywood actor Pa James, recalling a moment he saw him years ago and how it made him think about how fame does not always translate to long-term stability.
Referencing music legend Ebenezer Obey, he emphasized the idea that life unfolds in stages, morning, afternoon, and night, and expressed hope that people are able to maintain prosperity into later stages of life.

“There was this security man at my former office who always made space for me to park. He did it consistently, and I always appreciated him financially for the gesture.

One day, right after I parked, he said he wanted to see me. In my head, I was already thinking, “Ah, here we go again… today, nothing for you.”

Next thing, he showed up holding a Bible. I thought, “Hope this man doesn’t want to start preaching now.” But then, he brought out some old pictures of himself in Switzerland. I was shocked.

He went on to share his life story, how he used to be a boxer, how a wealthy man sponsored him abroad in the 80s, and how he was doing really well. The pictures backed everything up.

Then came the turning point, he was introduced to drug business. That was what ruined everything for him. He mentioned he has kids but doesn’t even know where they are today. Eventually, he got deported, and that’s how he ended up working as a security guard.

Why am I sharing this?

On this Papa Ajasco matter, my takeaway is simple: whatever you’re doing, do it well. And more importantly, pray for the grace to sustain it till the later stages of your life.

I remember seeing Pa James at Iyana Ipaja during my undergraduate days, and I almost got emotional, not because I knew his financial state, but because it made me reflect. People with far less fame have gone much farther in life.

Like Ebenezer Obey said in one of his songs, life has three stages: morning, afternoon, and night.

May our night be even more prosperous than our afternoon.”
