Remi Surutu defends Tinubu over fuel price concerns

Veteran Nollywood actress Remi Surutu has shared her thoughts on ethnic unity and the rising cost of fuel, sparking conversations online.

In a recent statement, the actress praised a family she described as kind and well-meaning, while lamenting what she sees as a lack of unity among Yoruba people.

She suggested that internal criticism and division often overshadow collective progress.

Surutu also weighed in on the ongoing debate around fuel price increases, defending President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, popularly known as Asiwaju.

She argued that global forces and decisions by world leaders play a significant role in determining fuel prices, rather than placing sole responsibility on the Nigerian government.

“They are extremely very good people. They are good people. The wife, the husband, the children, they are good people. But the fact that we Yorubas, we don’t love ourselves, we condemn ourselves in as much as is allowed. But if we can for one day relax and just think around, look at what is happening all over the world. We are still enjoying ourselves. Like I fought with somebody who was saying…Asiwaju is not responsible for the rise in petrol prices. The price of the fuel is decided by some beings, by the world leaders…” she said.
