“My celibacy goes….” – Iyanya opens up on marriage struggles

Nigerian singer and song writer, Iyanya, has opened up about his personal decision to stay celibate, admitting that the journey has not been easy for him.

Speaking on the Afropolitan Podcast, the 39-year-old singer revealed that his commitment to celibacy often fluctuates, especially when he meets someone he finds attractive.

“My celibacy goes up and down. Sometimes I meet someone and I struggle,” Iyanya admitted.

Iyanya explained that although he genuinely tries to stay disciplined, real-life situations sometimes test his resolve.

According to him, there are moments when he slips, only to later reflect and wish he had stayed committed to the path he chose.

The singer also spoke candidly about marriage, making it clear that settling down is not something he is currently focused on.

“I’m on a healing journey right now. Marriage is not my priority at this stage,” he said.

Iyanya added that he now chooses honesty when meeting new people.

Rather than making promises or leading anyone on, he makes it clear that he is not emotionally ready for a serious commitment.

Iyanya maintained that being upfront about his emotional state helps him avoid hurting others, stressing that honesty is better than playing with people’s feelings.
