The Ikorodu Magistrate Court has directed that DNA tests be carried out on Liam Aloba, the son of late Nigerian singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad.

The order was issued on Tuesday by Magistrate Adefisoye Sonuga while ruling on an application brought forward by the singer’s father, Joseph Aloba, who sought a paternity confirmation. Mohbad’s widow, Omowunmi Cynthia Aloba, was named as the respondent in the case.

In his filing, Joseph Aloba stressed the need to resolve the matter of paternity definitively.

“There remains uncertainty regarding the paternity of Master Liam Aloba and given the sensitivity of the matter, it is imperative that the paternity be conclusively settled,” he noted in court documents.
Delivering the ruling, the magistrate declared:

“The court hereby orders that two DNA tests be conducted in accredited and recognized hospitals, one in Nigeria and the other outside Nigeria.”

The court further directed that “Both parties or their representatives must be present when the samples are collected.”

The matter was subsequently adjourned until November 11, 2025, for continuation of proceedings.
