South African media personality Kefilwe Mabote has shed light on her recent decision to destroy her expensive designer clothes, including Versace items, by burning them.

In an Instagram post, Mabote clarified that her decision was rooted in her Christian faith.

She cited biblical scripture, specifically Joshua 7:13, which labels certain items as “accursed.”
Mabote explained that some designer items, such as those featuring the image of Medusa, carry spiritual implications that conflict with her Christian values.

Mabote emphasized that giving away the items would have meant passing on something she no longer aligns with, and she couldn’t in good conscience transfer items with potential spiritual baggage.

“I’ve been getting questions about why I chose to burn Versace items instead of giving them away, and I want to take a moment to explain with care and understanding.
“The decision to burn the items came from a place of conviction. According to the Bible, such things are considered ‘accursed’ (see Joshua 7:13 for context). For example the image of Medusa represents a Greek god, from the marine kingdom and as believers, we cannot serve two masters. To give these items away would be to pass on something I no longer stand for, and I can’t in good conscience transfer things that I know carry deep spiritual implications.”
