Actress Jemima Osunde responds to the increase in price of Nigerian passport

Jemima Osunde has shared her thoughts on the hike in Nigeria’s international passport fees.

Just days ago, the Federal Government declared that the fees for these passports have been raised.

According to NIS, the fee increase is part of efforts to ensure the quality and integrity of the Nigerian Standard Passport. The updated charges will take effect on September 1, 2024.

The Nigeria Immigration Service’s spokesman, Kenneth Udo, posted a message on the NIS account on X. he wrote:

“Based on the review, a 32-page passport booklet with five-year validity previously charged at N35,000 will now be N50,000 only; while a 64-page passport booklet with 10-year validity which was N70,000 will be N100,000 only.”

Actress Jemima Osunde expressed her disappointment on X about not getting her passport 10 years ago before the increase.

She explained that as an unmarried woman, she avoided the hassle of changing her name on the passport, which is why she didn’t get it.

Jemima Osunde recently shared that she might undergo surgery. She also mentioned that she would rather deal with getting a passport renewal than the trouble of changing her name. She wrote

“Me that I should’ve done 10 years passport, I was doing what if I marry.

I still choose this over the name change hassle sha”.
