A woman’s private part changes as she ages, and if she stop getting intimate with her partner, those changes could get worse and even affect her relationship with her partner.
Younger women’s estrogen levels are high and stable, so even if they have a dry spell, their lady part is ready for action as soon as they hit the reset button.
But women who are going through perimenopause, or who are already in menopause, can expect some changes that come but don’t go. But there’s no need to worry.
Here are the ways your private organ is affected when you cease to get intimate with your partner.
1. It gets very dry and less flexible: As you hit middle age and your estrogen levels start to drop, the vulva and lining of the private part becomes thinner, drier and less elastic, and that’s because of lack of blood supply.
If you’re not keeping up with intimacy, it can also start to narrower and shorten.
Obviously, lovemaking can become uncomfortable if your private part is smaller and lacks the natural lubrication needed to make intercourse pleasurable.
Estrogen replacement therapy is recommended for postmenopausal women who are having trouble with lovemaking.
The treatment comes in the form of creams, tablets, or inserts and can increase natural lubrication and elasticity in the private part so that lovemaking is more enjoyable.
2. It hurts when you make love again after a long time: If it’s been several years since you got intimate with your partner, you can experience pain when you revive your love life but don’t worry, that’s normal.
The dryness and thinning of the private part tissues make lovemaking feel tight and dry, rather than moist and open.
Your level of discomfort will also depend on your partner’s size.
Here, estrogen therapy can help with lubrication. Kegel exercises and pelvic floor physical therapy to strengthen the area can also help prevent pain, too.
When you’re getting intimate, try using a lubricant to create more moisture down there. Any natural oil based lubricant is safe if a condom is not being used, such as almond oil and olive oil.
